What you will do

• Design mechanics for optical subsystems including laser distribution, imaging, and optical cavities.
• Collaborate with physicists to design ultra-high vacuum chambers and mechanical coupling systems.
• Own complex technical projects from initial concept through to final delivery.
• Perform detailed stability, thermal, and tolerance analysis to validate design solutions.
• Create specifications and designs from component level to full system integration.
• Assist in hands-on assembly, alignment, and integration of finalized hardware.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5-8+ years of opto-mechanical design experience.
• Mastery of SolidWorks, PDM, or equivalent design and data management software.
• Strong background in FEA, including meshing, modal analysis, and thermal analysis.
• Proficiency in DFMA, tolerancing, and drawings to ASME Y14.5M and ISO 10110 standards.
• Deep understanding of first-order optics, aberration theory, and precision kinematic systems.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
