Hardware Engineering Manager (Quantum Computing)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually, plus annual bonus and equity

What you will do

• Lead and mentor hardware engineers developing, bringing up, and testing mixed-signal PCBs for quantum control-system instruments.
• Define hardware architectures and contribute hands-on to high-performance instrument development.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, firmware, software, systems, operations, and manufacturing engineering.
• Manage PCB fabrication and contract assembly vendors, including quoting, lead times, quality, and delivery targets.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for prototype-board defects.
• Oversee hardware projects from definition through production while improving design, verification, scalability, reliability, and manufacturability.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 8+ years of hardware engineering experience, including hands-on work with PCB fabrication and contract electronics assembly vendors.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience leading complex hardware projects from design through manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, capabilities, and common failure modes.
• Experience with root-cause and corrective-action processes for hardware quality issues.

Nice to have

• Analog electronics design experience.
• RF electronics or software-defined radio experience.
• Relationships with PCB fabrication houses or contract assembly shops in the Boulder area.
• Experience with precision instruments, aerospace, photonics, or similar high-complexity applications.
