Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. U.S. Person status is required; candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or green card holders, or workers granted asylum or refugee status. Due to national security requirements, People's Republic of China nationals and Russian nationals are ineligible unless also U.S. citizens.
Salary: $147,000–$198,000 annually.

What you will do
- Design and validate optical subassemblies for quantum computers.
- Support research and development, new product introduction, prototype builds, optical characterization, system integration, and production readiness.
- Define project requirements and engineering tasks, and drive technical projects to completion.
- Integrate and maintain complex, high-precision optical subassemblies in higher-level systems.
- Work with internal and external customers to deliver systems to specification.
- Mentor engineers on technical and scientific topics and help set priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- At least 6 years of experience using and maintaining optical, opto-mechanical, or laser systems, including experience gained through an advanced degree.
- Strong experience in optical system design and integration, laser characterization, optical metrology, precision alignment, opto-mechanical assembly, and engineering problem solving.
- Ability to meet the U.S. Person and national security eligibility requirements.
- Ability to work on-site in Broomfield, Colorado.
Nice to have
- Master's or Ph.D. in optics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience characterizing, stabilizing, and servoing diode, fiber, or Ti:Sapphire lasers.
- Experience with Zemax and SolidWorks/CAD for optical and optomechanical design.
- Experience collecting, plotting, analyzing, fitting, and interpreting optical testing data.
- Experience with engineering change documentation, assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
