What you will do

• Architect and build a rich document editor with multiplayer collaboration features, including CRDTs and conflict resolution.
• Translate complex customer problems into intuitive, elegant, and performant frontend experiences.
• Partner closely with Product and Design from the ideation phase through to delivery.
• Drive software design decisions to maintain a healthy and scalable codebase.
• Write high-quality, well-tested TypeScript and React code.
• Ship iteratively and refine features based on real-world usage and impact metrics.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
• Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area for a hybrid work arrangement.
• Proven experience working at an early-stage, product-focused startup (ideally <50 people).
• Expertise in AI-augmented engineering, using tools like Cursor or Claude to accelerate development.
• Strong product instincts and the ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous environments.
• Bias toward action with high standards for code quality and usability.

Nice to have

• Experience with rich text editor frameworks such as Slate, ProseMirror, Yjs, or Liveblocks.
• Experience in regulated domains where data privacy and security are critical.
• A track record of contributing to open-source projects or sharing technical knowledge.
