Power Systems Engineer (EMT Modeling/Simulation): Developing and analyzing complex power system models and designing validation strategies for advanced power conversion systems with an accent on transient dynamics and grid-interactive hardware. Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Miami, FL or Austin, TX (Relocation assistance provided).

What you will do
- Build and execute system-level simulations using PSCAD/EMTDC or MATLAB/Simulink to analyze transient and dynamic phenomena.
- Perform impact studies for Inverter-Based Resources and conduct Sub-Synchronous Oscillation assessments.
- Create and execute test plans including MIL, SIL, and HIL validation protocols for power components.
- Validate simulation results against experimental field data and improve model fidelity.
- Design and automate test infrastructure, data collection workflows, and post-processing analysis tools.
- Support controls and firmware teams by evaluating system protections, edge cases, and failure modes.
Requirements
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems, Power Electronics, or Controls.
- Proficiency in PSCAD/PSSE and/or MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS.
- Strong mathematical aptitude in differential equations, phasor analysis, and system dynamics.
- Experience designing and executing laboratory tests for electrical systems and interpreting measured data.
- Must be willing to relocate to Miami, FL or Austin, TX.
- Ability to debug complex multidisciplinary systems and communicate findings clearly.
Nice to have
- Exposure to LabVIEW, RTDS, or LTspice.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, DAQs, and programmable power supplies.
- Knowledge of IEEE 1547, NERC PRC/MOD, or relevant IEC/UL standards.
