TL;DR

Principal Project Engineer (Defense): Leading the evolution, sustainment, and deployment of advanced Naval solid-state transmitter systems with an accent on product modernization and customer capability enhancements. Focus on managing technical execution across multiple programs, mitigating obsolescence, and driving cybersecurity patching.

Location: East Syracuse, NY. Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a U.S. DoD SECRET security clearance.

Salary: $165,700 - $223,800

What you will do

  • Lead technical development for new product functionality, enhancements, obsolescence mitigation, and cybersecurity patching.
  • Collaborate with program management and business development to identify opportunities and generate winning proposals.
  • Manage technical execution, schedules, and budgets for multiple programs.
  • Lead technical risk and opportunity management efforts.
  • Oversee internal investments aligning with specific product line development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, or Science (Master's strongly preferred).
  • 12+ years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Proven technical leadership and customer relationship management skills with cross-functional experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and RF concepts.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a U.S. DoD SECRET security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with the Navy’s Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process.
  • Familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Experience leading radar systems development programs.
  • Ability to conduct formal Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Experience working within a Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA).
