Staff Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Salary: $145,000–$230,000 USD annually, depending on location, background, skills, experience, and job family.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions with Crossplane, Terraform, and Helm Charts for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
• Define platform requirements, scope, priorities, maturity goals, and strategic improvements with product managers, developers, InfoSec, operations, and quality assurance teams.
• Streamline software delivery and improve the reliability, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency of DevOps tools and platforms.
• Design zero-downtime maintenance strategies for Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources, and troubleshoot service reliability issues.
• Evaluate tools, technologies, and DevOps best practices; provide expert guidance and mentor junior platform engineers.
• Integrate security controls, document technical designs and configurations, and eliminate toil through automation, AI tools, and agentic workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong background in software development and infrastructure operations.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and orchestration tools.
• Proficiency with declarative management tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Go, Python, or Bash.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins or ArgoCD.
• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proven experience driving process improvements and implementing DevOps best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices in a fast-paced environment.
