Federal Platform Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote in the United States; up to 5% travel may be required. US citizenship and possession or ability to gain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance are required.

Base salary: $199,750–$230,000 annually. Additional performance bonuses, equity options, and other benefits may be available.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and improve secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native application platforms running in AWS regions supporting federal environments from FedRAMP through classified workloads.
• Design and deploy improvements to development and deployment processes so engineers can deploy with confidence.
• Develop internal platform telemetry tooling to measure effectiveness in supporting engineers.
• Create reusable Terraform modules and Crossplane compositions for engineering teams.
• Drive infrastructure-as-code, platform operations, automation, and CI/CD practices; evaluate technologies and define improvements.
• Improve technical documentation practices using Confluence and documentation as code, while contributing to project management and Agile work allocation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or related roles.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, Terraform, Crossplane, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and shell scripting.
• Required experience with GoLang; Python experience is a plus.
• Experience with Argo Events, Argo Workflows, Argo CD, SSO technologies including OIDC, SAML, Okta, or social sign-ins, and secret-management tools including HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secret Manager, or External Secrets Operator.
• Experience with Kubernetes distributions or services including RKE2, K3S, or EKS, and logging and metrics tools including Datadog or OpenSearch.
• Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, EKS, S3, EBS, Aurora RDS/Postgres, VPC, VPC endpoints, Route 53, SQS, EventBridge, IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, Cognito, Organizations, and SSO.
• Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize work effectively.
• Creative, self-motivated, pragmatic, disciplined, detail-oriented, and results-oriented approach, with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong solution design, technical documentation, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM, or equivalent experience.
• US citizenship and possession or ability to gain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience using Claude Code or other AI-enabled development tooling.
• Master's degree in Computer Science.
• Experience with FedRAMP, CS SRG, NIST 800-53, or the Authority to Operate process.
• Python programming experience.
