Lead Cloud Engineer (Azure)

Location: Remote; US-based storage and processing are required for healthcare data.

Salary: $150,000–$205,000 per year. Final leveling and salary range depend on experience, skills, interview outcomes, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Design, author, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and deployment pipelines for Azure enterprise data environments, including networking, security controls, resource groups, and service integrations.
• Implement and manage three-plane architectures across Azure subscriptions and resource groups for high-assurance stage/production and low-assurance development/test environments.
• Configure private hybrid connectivity between Azure and Google Cloud Advanced Data Lake services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, FHIR Store, and DICOM Store, without public internet exposure.
• Deploy and configure AKS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server with pgvector, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, and Azure Artifacts.
• Integrate Entra ID sign-in, RBAC, least-privilege permissions, SailPoint-governed groups, personal service accounts, and just-in-time privileged access.
• Configure centralized Azure Monitor logging and monitoring while ensuring telemetry and audit logs exclude PHI.

Requirements

• Expert-level experience with Microsoft Azure enterprise data platforms, hybrid multi-cloud architectures, and integrations with Google Cloud and Microsoft Fabric.
• Proven experience deploying and operating Apache Airflow, Milvus, Neo4j operators, and custom workloads on AKS, including GPU node pool configuration.
• Deep proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Spacelift or Terraform Enterprise.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise.
• Strong working knowledge of HIPAA and PHI compliance controls, including US-based data storage and processing restrictions.
• Knowledge of TLS 1.2+ encryption, at-rest key management, and secure SDLC practices.
