TL;DR

Location: Remote (Must be admitted to a U.S. state bar)

What you will do

  • Act as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams on new features, disclosures, and data sharing.
  • Draft and maintain consumer-facing agreements, online terms, and regulatory notices.
  • Review marketing campaigns and promotional materials for legal compliance and T&Cs.
  • Advise on Visa, Mastercard, and Amex network rules and their application to product design.
  • Provide legal guidance on payments architecture, including settlement and funds flow.
  • Collaborate with Compliance on regulatory interpretations and exam preparation.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar.
  • 4–6 years of legal experience in financial services (credit cards, fintech, or digital banking).
  • Deep familiarity with federal consumer finance regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, EFTA/Reg E, FCRA, UDAAP).
  • Proven experience drafting consumer-facing disclosures and agreements.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong communication skills to translate legal risks for technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a fintech, neobank, or payments company.
  • Working knowledge of card network rules (Visa/Mastercard).
  • Familiarity with data privacy frameworks like CCPA and GLBA.
  • Experience in sponsor bank or banking-as-a-service (BaaS) environments.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted legal workflows and process automation.
