What you will do
- Act as the primary legal advisor for product and engineering teams on new features, disclosures, and data sharing.
- Draft and maintain consumer-facing agreements, online terms, and regulatory notices.
- Review marketing campaigns and promotional materials for legal compliance and T&Cs.
- Advise on Visa, Mastercard, and Amex network rules and their application to product design.
- Provide legal guidance on payments architecture, including settlement and funds flow.
- Collaborate with Compliance on regulatory interpretations and exam preparation.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar.
- 4–6 years of legal experience in financial services (credit cards, fintech, or digital banking).
- Deep familiarity with federal consumer finance regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, EFTA/Reg E, FCRA, UDAAP).
- Proven experience drafting consumer-facing disclosures and agreements.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong communication skills to translate legal risks for technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience at a fintech, neobank, or payments company.
- Working knowledge of card network rules (Visa/Mastercard).
- Familiarity with data privacy frameworks like CCPA and GLBA.
- Experience in sponsor bank or banking-as-a-service (BaaS) environments.
- Comfort with AI-assisted legal workflows and process automation.
