PVD Senior Process Engineer (E) (PVD)

Location: Onsite at the Manufacturing Headquarters in Newport, South Wales, United Kingdom. The role requires continual weekly alternating shifts: 6:00am–2:00pm and 1:30pm–9:30pm, with occasional weekend work and international travel.

hirify.global’s SPTS division designs and manufactures wafer processing solutions for semiconductor and related industries, including etch and deposition technologies.

What you will do

• Develop PVD deposition processes and process customer wafers using demonstration equipment.
• Generate process recipes for customer requirements across multiple process modules and applications.
• Run process demonstrations, assess results with analytical equipment and software, and troubleshoot issues.
• Test enhanced hardware and contribute to new product and process development projects.
• Provide remote and occasional onsite support to hirify.global field teams and customers.
• Supervise junior engineers, prepare technical reports and papers, support patent submissions, and coordinate project activities.

Requirements

• Industry experience, ideally with semiconductor processing equipment and substrate metrology.
• Degree, master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in chemistry, physics, or a relevant field.
• Minimum experience guidance: 5 years with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a master’s degree, or 0 years with a doctorate.
• Ability to measure film thickness, resistance, stress, texture, roughness, reflectivity, and cross-section.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team while supporting shift-based operations.
