Senior Software Engineer, Platform

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer, Platform (Python/AWS): Design and own mission-critical platform systems and developer integration tooling that support backend teams across API, internal services, and data science, with an accent on reliability, observability, security, and maintainability. Focus on building production-ready integrations, driving technical tradeoffs, and leading complex cross-team initiatives while responding to incidents through an on-call rotation.

Salary: $160,000 - $180,000

What you will do

• Design, build, and own platform systems and integrations supporting operations, fulfillment, data science, and other engineering teams
• Partner with stakeholders to define technical approaches, estimate effort, and break initiatives into incremental deliverables
• Drive technical discussions and evaluate tradeoffs to balance business needs with long-term maintainability
• Participate in on-call rotation: respond to production incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve reliability and observability
• Raise code quality through code reviews, testing, automation, technical documentation, and refactoring
• Contribute to hiring by participating in interviews and engineering candidate evaluation

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of professional Python development experience
• Backend service experience with Django (preferred), Flask, FastAPI, or a similar Python web framework
• Strong SQL experience, including relational data modeling, raw queries, and performance tuning
• Experience deploying and operating production applications in AWS (or another major cloud platform)
• Work from anywhere in the U.S.

Nice to have

• Experience with operations, logistics, fulfillment, inventory, supply chain, or e-commerce systems
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Docker and container-based deployment workflows
• Asynchronous technologies (e.g., Celery) and workflow orchestration/job scheduling frameworks
• Experience with React or similar frontend frameworks
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
