TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer: Architecting analytical and optimization software for renewable energy operations with an accent on end-to-end platform ownership across backend services, data pipelines, and user interfaces. Focus on leading architecture decisions, integrating agentic AI tools into engineering workflows, and ensuring secure-by-design delivery at scale.

Location: St. Paul, MN or Juno Beach, FL

Compensation: $60/hr - $75/hr W2 or $65/hr - $80/hr C2C

What you will do

  • Translate complex, ambiguous energy industry problems into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design and own end-to-end systems across backend services, data pipelines, and user interfaces.
  • Build rapid prototypes to validate concepts with business stakeholders.
  • Lead architecture decisions and mentor engineers across the team.
  • Integrate and govern agentic AI tools in engineering workflows with quality controls and deterministic validation checks.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with observability, alerting, and production support readiness; apply secure-by-design principles.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated architecture ownership across multiple languages and paradigms.
  • Hands-on GCP experience for data-intensive workloads using BigQuery, Dataflow, or Dataproc.
  • Comfort working full stack, including backend services, data pipelines, and user interfaces.
  • Track record using AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, or similar) critically and effectively.
  • Must be authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship, now or in the future.
