TL;DR

Financial Specialist (Finance): Conducting financial analysis, expense planning, and forecasting to support insurance operations with an accent on variance analysis and financial modeling. Location: Must be based in or able to commute to New Haven, CT, US (Hybrid role)

Salary: $88,000 – $149,500

What you will do

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director on expense management, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis on expense lines to identify key drivers.
  • Validate financial assumptions and update models for annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Research and resolve expense-related inquiries from internal departments.
  • Extract and maintain financial data using SAP and Excel to support system enhancements.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects to improve reporting efficiency and expense management.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States is required (no visa sponsorship).
  • BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the insurance industry or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate to advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment in New Haven, CT.

Nice to have

  • Experience with large-scale ERP systems such as SAP.
