External Quality Auditor (QAN/QAR / Hazardous Area)

Location: Home based in the United Kingdom, with approximately 30% UK and 70% international travel; full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively required.

What you will do

• Plan and conduct external audits of manufacturing auditing systems against BS EN IEC 80079-34 and relevant CCC, Korean, North American, and other schemes.
• Evaluate compliance with documented processes and identify nonconformities, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare clear and accurate audit reports and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Maintain audit schedules, records, and documentation in line with accreditation requirements.
• Support a strong customer-service and quality culture while following company policies and integrity standards.

Requirements

• Experience delivering third-party audits in engineering or hazardous-area environments.
• Minimum two years of proven experience as a Lead Auditor.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and audit principles, techniques, and practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
• High attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple audits effectively.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the UK and internationally.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of EN ISO/IEC 80079-34 and IEC 60079-series hazardous-area standards.
• Experience in ATEX, UKEx, or IECEx environments.
• Engineering background with relevant industry exposure.
• Higher qualification such as an MSc or MBA, or professional membership.
