Network Field Engineer (Cisco)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; hybrid. Reliable transportation is required for travel between sites.

What you will do

• Monitor day-to-day LAN and WAN network operations within the assigned scope.
• Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot network and application performance problems.
• Recommend and implement complex network upgrades and improvements.
• Install, maintain, and monitor client network systems, including Cisco equipment.
• Collaborate with infrastructure groups and end users to resolve high-impact, cross-functional issues.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and travel between field sites as needed.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience troubleshooting practical networking systems, including LANs, firewalls, routers, PCs, and printers.
• Experience installing and configuring Cisco devices, LAN/WAN environments, Avaya systems, port activations, and switch firmware updates.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, LPS, and BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Associate’s degree or 1–2 years of vocational technical training preferred.
• At least 1–5 years of study toward Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification; CCNA is a plus, but candidates must be working toward it if they do not hold it.
• Reliable transportation and availability for hybrid work in Novi, Michigan, are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to independently plan, implement, and engineer intermediate- to advanced-complexity Cisco network solutions.
