Principal Rust Developer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Jose, California, USA; the position is also listed for Bellevue, Washington, USA.

Base salary: $180,000–$225,000 USD per year, excluding bonus, equity, commissions, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build a low-latency, high-throughput data forwarding plane in Rust using asynchronous I/O.
• Develop distributed systems focused on concurrency, fault tolerance, messaging, and horizontal scalability.
• Implement and maintain gRPC APIs and services connecting forwarding capabilities with control and orchestration layers.
• Optimize performance using profiling and instrumentation across kernel-space and user-space.
• Participate in code reviews, system design, technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Extensive Rust development experience, including systems programming and async frameworks such as Tokio or async-std.
• Expertise in building resilient, observable, and horizontally scalable distributed systems.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, including networking, namespaces, sockets, and kernel-user space interaction.
• Experience with containers, Git, CI/CD workflows, and performance instrumentation.
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience applying, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with C, C++, or Go in performance-critical systems.
• Familiarity with Linux networking stacks, eBPF, DPDK, Kubernetes networking, or service meshes.
• Hands-on experience with gRPC, Protobufs, TCP/IP, QUIC, or routing encapsulations.
