Salary: $182,000–$260,000 USD base pay.

What you will do

• Design and build a low-latency, high-throughput data forwarding plane in Rust using asynchronous I/O.
• Develop horizontally scalable distributed systems with strong concurrency, fault tolerance, and messaging capabilities.
• Implement and maintain gRPC APIs and services connecting forwarding, control, and orchestration layers.
• Profile and optimize performance across kernel-space and user-space components.
• Contribute to system design, code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Extensive Rust experience, including systems programming and async frameworks such as Tokio or async-std.
• Proven experience building resilient, observable, and horizontally scalable distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of Linux networking, namespaces, sockets, and kernel-user space interaction.
• Proficiency with containers, Git, CI/CD workflows, and performance instrumentation.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup based in San Jose, California, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with C, C++, or Go in performance-critical systems.
• Knowledge of eBPF, DPDK, Linux networking stacks, Kubernetes networking, or service meshes.
• Hands-on experience with gRPC, Protobuf, and L2–L4 protocols including TCP/IP, QUIC, or routing encapsulations.
