Senior Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Västerås, Sweden, with a flexible hybrid working model. The assignment also covers Södermanland, Uppsala, Västmanland, Stockholm, and Dalarna counties.

What you will do

• Support verification, testing, commissioning, start-up, and production ramp-up for a highly automated manufacturing environment.
• Work with production, engineering, logistics, project teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure stable operations.
• Analyze technical issues and lead structured root cause investigations.
• Manage technical interfaces across production, engineering, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Drive automation improvements and support the future development of assembly, material handling, and logistics systems.
• Apply technical leadership, problem-solving, coaching, and collaboration to create long-term operational value.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in industrial automation engineering.
• Solid experience in automated manufacturing, assembly, or logistics environments.
• Strong understanding of automation systems, machine interfaces, and industrial control solutions.
• Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning, start-up, or production ramp-up activities.
• Ability to manage technical interfaces and collaborate effectively across functions.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Technical project management experience.
• Experience developing automation standards and best practices.
• Experience with concept studies, industrial investment projects, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with automated warehouses, material handling, intralogistics, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience coaching, training, or mentoring colleagues in automation disciplines.
