TL;DR

Senior Desktop Support Technician (IT Support): Providing tier 2/3 technical support for desktop systems, software, and mobile devices within a federal research environment with an accent on multi-platform support (Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix) and ITSM best practices. Focus on resolving complex hardware/software issues for scientific users and maintaining secure endpoint compliance.

Location: Bethesda, Maryland. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Salary: $78,860 - $88,725 yearly

What you will do

  • Provide tier 2/3 helpdesk support for hardware, software, and applications following ITSM best practices.
  • Support desktop computers running Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Unix for scientists and technicians.
  • Install and configure mobile devices and ensure MDM compliance.
  • Manage user accounts in Active Directory and perform data restoration from backups.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity staff, and enterprise IT teams.
  • Configure new computers according to NIH NIA IRP standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel between local locations.
  • Understanding of network protocols and cabling technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory and ticketing systems.

Nice to have

  • Certifications: Apple Certified Support Professional, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, JAMF, or MS 365.
  • Experience within NIH, HHS, or other federal environments.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
