Senior Frontend Engineer (AI)

TL;DR

Senior Frontend Engineer (Svelte/AI): Building and optimizing a legal AI platform to enhance productivity for legal professionals with an accent on human-AI interaction and scalable frontend architecture. Location: Hybrid in Berlin, Germany. Must be based in or be able to commute to the Berlin office at least 8 days per month.

What you will do

• Own significant product surfaces end-to-end within a SvelteKit application, from architecture to final UX polish.
• Lead the consolidation of UI patterns into a coherent and consistent component library.
• Improve frontend quality by increasing type safety, reducing duplication, and establishing best practices.
• Partner with UX and design teams to evolve and implement the product design system.
• Develop novel AI-driven UX features including streaming responses, citation rendering, and source attribution.
• Mentor the engineering team through code reviews and pairing sessions.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in product frontend engineering.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and strong experience with Svelte/SvelteKit (or comparable depth in React/Vue).
• Experience implementing real-time UI patterns such as SSE, streaming responses, and optimistic updates.
• Proven track record of building or evolving design systems and component libraries.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Must be able to work from the Berlin office (minimum 8 days per month).

Nice to have

• Experience with Tailwind CSS and modern design tokens.
• Previous experience building UX for LLM-powered or non-deterministic products.
• Full-stack experience, particularly with Python and FastAPI.
• Proficiency in German.
