Senior Frontend Engineer (Legal AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid role with at least eight days per month in the office. Remote work is available up to three days per week, with work from anywhere within the EU for up to 20 days in a twelve-month period.

Legal AI product organization building an AI platform for legal research, drafting, compliance, and modern legal work.

What you will do

• Own significant product surfaces end-to-end in a SvelteKit application, from architecture decisions through final UX polish.
• Consolidate UI patterns into a coherent component library and evolve the design system across the product.
• Improve frontend quality through stronger type safety, reduced duplication, and reusable engineering patterns.
• Build human-AI interaction features including streaming responses, citation rendering, source attribution, and tool-use surfaces.
• Collaborate with design, UX, and legal experts to create effective legal product experiences.
• Support team growth through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring.

Requirements

• At least five years of relevant product frontend engineering experience.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and strong experience with Svelte or SvelteKit, or comparable depth in React or Vue with the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Solid knowledge of modern CSS and design tokens, plus hands-on experience with real-time UI patterns such as streaming responses, SSE, and optimistic updates.
• Experience building or significantly evolving a design system or component library.
• Experience using AI coding agents such as Cursor or Claude Code.
• Excellent English communication and availability for the required hybrid office schedule in Berlin.

Nice to have

• Experience with Tailwind, LLM-powered or non-deterministic products, or full-stack development with Python and FastAPI.
• German language skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field.
