TL;DR
Sr. Product Quality Engineer (Aerospace): Ensuring product quality across the aircraft lifecycle, from design validation and manufacturing processes to inspection planning and regulatory compliance, with an accent on powertrain quality, APQP, first article inspection, and aerospace standards. Focus on establishing inspection plans, conducting root cause analysis and CAPA, assessing manufacturing risks, and supporting FAA conformity and certification processes.

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base pay: $126,700–$150,200 per year. hirify.global is unable to provide work visa sponsorship for this position.

hirify.global is an aerospace company developing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for sustainable air mobility.

What you will do

  • Ensure powertrain components, assemblies, and systems meet design, quality, safety, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Partner with design and manufacturing engineering teams to support transitions from design to production and resolve quality issues.
  • Develop and implement APQP methods, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC, PPAPs, DFM, and MSAs.
  • Lead inspection plan development and conduct or support First Article Inspections in accordance with SAE AS9102.
  • Facilitate Material Review Board dispositions and lead manufacturing process improvement through root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Develop quality metrics, reports, risk mitigation plans, training, and support for FAA and company conformity inspections and certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or another relevant engineering discipline, plus 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience creating and approving First Article Inspections and using the tools required for inspection.
  • Experience with MES systems and electronic inspection plan creation.
  • Experience in aerospace or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with design reviews, dimensional verification, and GD&T under ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145, and AS6500 quality standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SAP, CAD, PLM, ERP software, Sigma, or Microsoft BI dashboards.
  • FAA conformity inspection experience and experience working with Designees.
  • Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
  • Experience developing or validating automated inspection equipment and working with SQL.
  • Aircraft or composite assembly experience, EV/eVTOL knowledge, or coding experience in VBA or Python.
