TL;DR
Quality Engineer II (Aerospace): Developing and improving quality processes for aerospace products and suppliers across design, manufacturing, integration, and delivery with an accent on inspections, supplier qualification, and AS9100/ISO 9001 compliance. Focus on leading RCCA/CAPA and MRB activities, validating processes, interpreting engineering requirements, and reducing quality variability across high-complexity manufacturing programs.

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Domestic travel of 20–50% to supplier sites is required. ITAR/EAR work requires proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence and no need for sponsorship for export-restricted work authorization.

Salary: $110,000–$137,000 per year, plus possible bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Plan, perform, and document receiving, in-process, and final inspections against engineering and contractual requirements.
  • Develop inspection plans, work instructions, quality checklists, and product and process requirements.
  • Support new product introduction through design reviews, process validation, and qualification of internal processes and supplier components.
  • Lead root cause analysis, RCCA/CAPA, and Material Review Board activities for internal and supplier quality issues.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, suppliers, and customer-facing teams to reduce variability and resolve quality issues.
  • Monitor quality metrics and contribute to the Quality Management System in alignment with AS9100 and ISO 9001.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
  • 2–4 years of aerospace quality engineering experience in high-rate, high-complexity manufacturing programs.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, Statements of Work, and quality clauses.
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements, plus experience leading RCCA activities.
  • Ability to meet ITAR/EAR work authorization requirements and complete a post-offer background check.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of metrology, gage R&R, SPC, and inspection techniques for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • CQE certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-620.
