Sr. Battery Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; ability to travel domestically and internationally required.

Salary: $144,000–$180,000 base pay annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy battery module and pack manufacturing lines from prototype through series production.
• Define build sequences, process flows, cycle times, layouts, design-for-manufacturing solutions, and production methods.
• Specify, source, validate, and commission manufacturing equipment, including supplier RFQ, FAT/SAT, installation, qualification, and SOP activities.
• Drive process control, quality improvement, corrective and preventive actions, MRB participation, and equipment capability.
• Maintain MES configurations, including routings, process parameters, work instructions, and data collection protocols.
• Support shop-floor operations, troubleshoot downtime and process deviations, and improve line efficiency, ergonomics, OEE, and cost performance.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in EV battery module or pack manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with prototype and high-volume manufacturing and capital projects from concept through commissioning.
• Experience with OEE improvement, preventive and predictive maintenance, statistical process control, GD&T, lean manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, Python, or similar statistical software; experience with CAD, PLM, MES, and ERP systems.
• Understanding of PLCs, robots, motion control, vision systems, human-machine safety devices, ANSI/RIA 15.06, and OSHA standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with thermoplastic part joining, including ultrasonic welding.
• Knowledge of aviation battery certification requirements, including DO-311A, DO-160, and RTCA standards.
• Experience with airworthiness requirements, aviation safety management systems, aviation-grade traceability, configuration management, FAR 23, Part 21, or FAA Production Certification.
