What you will do

  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and safety hazard analyses for structural, mechanical, environmental, and electrical components.
  • Design, build, and commission custom test fixtures, automated test equipment, and ground-support equipment using CAD and rapid prototyping.
  • Select, install, and calibrate sensors, and configure data acquisition systems to capture test data.
  • Process test data to evaluate performance against design requirements and investigate root-cause failures.
  • Collaborate with Design, Systems, and Flight Test engineering teams to translate aircraft requirements into verifiable physical test criteria.
  • Maintain safe testing practices and documentation supporting FAA and UAS certification pathways.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in an engineering test environment, including hardware verification, environmental qualification, or physical laboratory testing.
  • Hands-on experience with electric motors, propulsion systems, battery systems, or EV systems.
  • Experience operating data acquisition hardware such as National Instruments or Dewesoft and related instrumentation.
  • Mechanical or electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret engineering schematics, 3D CAD models, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW and experience writing clear professional test reports.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, UAV, automotive EV, or robotics industries.
  • Familiarity with DO-160G, MIL-STD-810, or equivalent automotive hardware qualification standards.
  • Experience with automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, structural load cells, or thermal and environmental test setups.
