TL;DR
Senior Flight Test Data Engineer, Loads (Aerospace): Designing and operating systems that capture, process, and validate aircraft loads data for an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with an accent on structural loads measurement, flight-test data processing, and fatigue spectrum development. Focus on developing loads equations, building automated analysis pipelines, comparing measured loads with analytical models, and supporting FAA certification deliverables.

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $144,000–$180,000 base pay annually

Company

hirify.global is an aerospace company developing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for sustainable air mobility.

What you will do

  • Design, configure, and maintain flight-test data acquisition systems for structural loads measurements.
  • Develop and validate loads equations and transfer functions for deriving internal structural loads from flight measurements.
  • Plan and execute loads survey flight-test programs with flight-test engineers and structural analysts.
  • Process, reduce, and quality-check large flight-test datasets, identifying anomalies and maintaining data integrity.
  • Build automated data pipelines and analysis tools for loads extraction, fatigue spectrum development, and design-load validation.
  • Compare flight-test loads with analytical models and prepare documentation supporting engineering releases and FAA certification.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in flight-test loads, structural test, or loads and dynamics engineering for aircraft, spacecraft, or advanced air-mobility platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering; an M.S. is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with flight-test data acquisition systems, including hardware configuration, sensor integration, signal conditioning, and telemetry.
  • Experience developing loads equations, deriving structural loads from flight measurements, and developing fatigue spectra from measured data.
  • Strong Python and/or MATLAB scripting and data-analysis skills, including automated processing pipelines and visualization.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis, fatigue, and damage-tolerance methods, including classical calculations and/or FEA.

Nice to have

  • FAA Part 23 or Part 27 certification experience and loads substantiation documentation.
  • Experience with RCAS, CAMRADII, Nastran, OptiStruct, Ansys, Abaqus, AFGROW, or NASGRO.
  • Knowledge of aerospace sizing references, signal processing, filtering, time-frequency analysis, databases, or cloud data infrastructure.

Culture & Benefits

  • Pay-for-performance culture with compensation based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
  • Commitment to an equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplace.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available during the application and hiring process.
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
