Staff Loads Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $136,730–$205,096 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees

What you will do

• Develop aerodynamic and structural load envelopes for next-generation aircraft from clean-sheet design through flight testing.
• Lead maneuver, gust, landing, and ground-load analyses covering quasi-static and dynamic cases.
• Coordinate with structural design, aerodynamics, GNC, and test engineering teams to define, validate, and trace load cases.
• Develop loads models and structural analysis workflows using NASTRAN, FEMAP, MATLAB, Python, Simulink, or comparable tools.
• Support structural sizing with load maps and V-n diagrams, and assess aeroelastic stability including divergence and control reversal.
• Prepare loads documentation and support instrumentation, strain-gauge planning, flight-data correlation, compliance reviews, and automation improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience performing aircraft loads and aeroelastic analysis for manned or unmanned vehicles.
• Proficiency with FEMAP, NASTRAN, MATLAB, or other relevant simulation environments.
• Strong understanding of aircraft flight envelopes, control-surface effects, and structural load paths.
• Experience supporting both aircraft design and test phases with accurate load predictions.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired; all offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.

Nice to have

• Experience with UAV, eVTOL, or tactical military platforms.
• Familiarity with MIL-A-8860, FAR Part 23/25, or similar certification standards.
• Knowledge of aeroelastic stability, load alleviation, and adaptive control.
• Experience developing internal tools or automation for loads generation and reporting.
• Active or previous Department of Defense clearance.
