What you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain internal software libraries and computing infrastructure for the Flight Sciences department.
- Develop software tools to improve the reproducibility and traceability of computations.
- Administer on-premises HPC resources and optimize resource utilization and cost.
- Promote a culture of software excellence and shared computational practices across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with the company-wide IT department to advocate for specific engineering and computing needs.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Computational Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience developing scientific software for flight sciences (aerodynamics, acoustics, control, etc.).
- Proficiency in the scientific Python ecosystem (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
- Experience in HPC system design and administration, including Linux, MPI, and Slurm/PBS/Torque.
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including version control and CI/CD.
- Must have valid US work authorization as visa sponsorship is not provided.
Nice to have
- Experience in aircraft design (aerodynamics, GNC, structural analysis, or vehicle simulation).
- Proficiency in compiled languages such as C/C++, Fortran, or Rust.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and containerization (Docker/Singularity).
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Contributions to open-source scientific software projects.
