TL;DR
Senior Ground Systems Engineer - Blue Ring (TS/SCI Required) (Space Mission Ground Systems): Designing, integrating, testing, and maintaining secure ground systems supporting national security space missions with an accent on requirements engineering, architecture, system integration, and security compliance. Focus on architecting communication systems across multiple security domains, optimizing reliable system performance, and meeting TS/SCI-mandated regulatory requirements.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $197,529.00–$276,539.55 per year; other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Capture requirements, define system architectures, and develop detailed design specifications with cross-functional teams.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and maintain ground systems supporting national security space initiatives.
  • Conduct system-level testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, testing, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Establish secure, scalable, and maintainable ground systems and ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements.
  • Document configurations and procedures, train operational teams, and coordinate with government agencies and contractors.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience with space mission ground systems and national security space software development, standards, and requirements.
  • Experience with security protocols, encryption, data integrity, system integration, testing, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in requirements definition and management, preferably with DOORS Next Generation.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees under export-control regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or scientific field.
  • Experience with spacecraft subsystems, CCSDS, DDS, GMSEC, or other space communications protocols.
  • Experience with FHA, FMECA, and FTA system safety analyses.
  • Experience proposing to U.S. Government research agencies such as NASA, AFRL, or DARPA.
  • Programming experience with Python, Java, C++, Agile, DevSecOps, AWS, or Azure.
