Technical Regulatory Compliance Engineering Specialist (Functional Safety)

Location: Onsite in Mossville or Peoria, Illinois, United States; 5 days per week. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year

What you will do

• Provide control system functional safety and machinery product safety risk assessment support.
• Develop solutions for complex technical engineering and regulatory compliance problems.
• Interpret and contribute to international standards and regulatory policy efforts.
• Conduct control system safety assessments, product safety risk assessments, design reviews, and internal training.
• Audit hardware and software assessments and support continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and external committees to build consensus and resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, or Controls Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Strong understanding of embedded control systems and engineering development or validation for mobile machines.
• Experience with earth-moving machinery risk assessment methodologies such as Bowtie, LOPA, or MCSSA.
• Strong analytical, technical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Control System Functional Safety Certification, or willingness to obtain the certification during the assignment.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 19014, ISO 13849, ISO 25119, ISO 26262, or other functional safety standards.
• Experience with international standards development organizations.
• Experience with electrification, autonomy, SOTIF, or artificial intelligence.
• Project management experience and technical leadership in complex engineering projects.
