Distinguished Engineer – Private Cloud Platform Engineering (OpenStack/Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Define the long-term technical roadmap and future-state architecture for a multi-region private cloud platform.
• Architect and evolve large-scale OpenStack infrastructure supporting virtual machines, bare metal, storage, networking, and container platforms.
• Design software-defined networking across datacenter and hybrid cloud environments, including routing, load balancing, firewalls, overlays, and observability.
• Lead Ceph storage architecture for block, object, and cloud-native services, including performance, capacity, durability, and disaster recovery.
• Drive platform modernization, workload migration from legacy virtualization, resiliency, multi-datacenter expansion, and Zero Trust initiatives.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead architecture and incident reviews, and advise executives on private cloud strategy and investments.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software, infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering experience.
• 5+ years at Principal, Senior Staff, Distinguished Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale cloud platforms supporting thousands of workloads.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, operations, networking, storage, security, OpenStack, and Ceph.
• Strong knowledge of SDN technologies including EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, overlay networking, SmartNICs, network virtualization, cloud networking, and service mesh architectures.
• Strong coding skills in Go, Python, Rust, or Java, with expertise in infrastructure automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and reliable distributed systems.

Nice to have

• Experience building private clouds with hyperscale capabilities and migrating workloads from VMware or other legacy platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure, GPU orchestration, high-performance computing, and multi-petabyte environments.
• Experience with observability, SRE practices, cybersecurity, compliance, and Zero Trust architecture.
