Senior Product Owner (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid in Raleigh, NC; Jersey City, NJ; or New York City, NY, United States

Salary: $114,000–$223,700 per year, plus incentive eligibility

What you will do

• Own, maintain, prioritize, and refine multiple product backlogs, including user stories, enablers, defects, acceptance criteria, and architectural runway.
• Manage product and delivery roadmaps while aligning backlog priorities with product strategy, business needs, user feedback, and measurable outcomes.
• Translate business needs and technical details into clear, executable user stories and facilitate communication between product management, stakeholders, and Agile development teams.
• Define sprint goals, support sprint planning, coordinate releases, manage dependencies, and resolve emerging delivery questions across multiple teams.
• Coach Product Owners on backlog management and collaborate with development, QA, design, and business teams.
• Track product metrics, validate acceptance criteria and quality standards, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in insurance, Product Owner roles, IT development teams, Agile delivery, software development lifecycles, or a related field.
• Experience managing multiple products in large-scale commercial and specialty insurance systems, such as DuckCreek, Guidewire, Unqork, underwriting platforms, submission and clearance systems, extraction platforms, or AI-driven platforms.
• Strong technical and business acumen, including the ability to understand integrations, workflows, IT concepts, and translate them into business outcomes and technical user stories.
• Experience leading or guiding multiple Agile teams and working with Scrum, SAFe, JIRA, Confluence, MIRO, and product roadmap tools.
• Deep understanding of commercial and specialty insurance product lifecycles, with strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
