TL;DR

Air Force VP of Business Development (Defense): Leading the identification, qualification, and early capture of new business opportunities in the Federal Civilian and Defense sectors with an accent on strategic account planning and relationship building. Focus on driving growth initiatives, conducting competitive market analysis, and collaborating with capture and solution teams to secure mission-critical contracts.

Location: Must be based in the United States (Remote with 10-20% travel).

Salary: $200,000 - $225,000 a year

What you will do

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities within the Federal Civilian and Defense markets.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across federal agencies.
  • Create strategic account and call plans to drive market penetration and growth.
  • Lead responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and early-phase business development deliverables.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis and brief leadership on industry trends.
  • Collaborate with capture, pricing, and solution teams to ensure successful opportunity shaping.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US due to government contract requirements.
  • Active Top Secret / SC clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of experience in business development or capture within the Federal Civilian, DoD, or Intelligence community.
  • Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and the government contracting landscape.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to drive opportunities independently and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience winning work within agencies such as DHS, DOJ, HHS, DOE, USDA, and GSA.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce and market research platforms.
