Resident Engineer (Data Center Networking)

Location: Full-time onsite at a customer location in the Columbia/Fort Meade, Maryland area, United States

Salary: $119,500–$275,000 annual base salary in Maryland, plus possible variable incentives.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain a data center network.
• Support Juniper QFX, MX, EX, and SRX products.
• Design, operate, support, and improve medium-to-large-scale data center network environments.
• Troubleshoot equipment and network issues and manage JTAC cases through resolution.
• Communicate case status and deliver root cause analyses.
• Support formal and informal technology briefings and training sessions.

Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance with a full-scope polygraph is required.
• Deep knowledge of data center routing and switching technologies, including EVPN, multicast, OSPF, BGP, RSVP, LDP, pseudowires, L2VPN, L3VPN, MPLS Traffic Engineering, routing policies, GRE, and VXLAN.
• Ability to work effectively with customer engineers and JTAC under pressure to resolve hardware and software issues.
• Strong troubleshooting, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to take direction while independently identifying opportunities to improve network design and operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Juniper products.
• Juniper or other vendor certifications.
• Automation and DevOps knowledge.
• Experience with XML API, NETCONF, REST API, gRPC, Python, PyEZ, ncclient, Ansible, Jinja2, Python and SLAX scripts.
