IT Systems Engineer

Location: Onsite in Arlington, Virginia, requiring at least 5 days in the office. Travel of up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year, with ranges varying by experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Rack, install, provision, and maintain physical and virtual servers, networking devices, and other hardware.
• Perform server updates, patch management, software installations, and vulnerability remediation.
• Operate systems running Red Hat, Windows, and VMware products.
• Implement and review security processes, user permissions, device hardening, and DISA STIG compliance.
• Develop and maintain operating system images and virtual machines.
• Create detailed documentation for systems and networks used by technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in systems administration or systems engineering.
• Experience with VMware or a similar virtualization platform, physical and virtual machine provisioning, and network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, VLANs, DHCP, and routing.
• Experience with Bash, C, and/or Python scripting.
• Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification, plus experience hardening devices and updating DISA STIG checklists.
• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of Red Hat or similar Linux distributions.
• Experience with tactical systems, Cisco switching, VPC, VRFs, PKI, and multiple authentication methods.
• Experience with Ruckus network devices or VMware NSX-T.
• Experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Puppet, or similar configuration automation tools.
