What you will do

• Set technical direction and lead architecture decisions for the Identity Platform, authoring RFCs/ADRs and driving long-term evolution.
• Design, implement, and operate scalable backend microservices end-to-end (design, implementation, testing, and production operations).
• Apply security-first engineering practices using threat models, catching risks during design, and establishing reusable patterns.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code for cloud-managed resources (databases, caches, message queues, event streaming).
• Own production health: define SLOs, write structured logs, author runbooks, and participate in on-call rotation.
• Mentor and elevate engineers through design reviews, pairing, and feedback; collaborate with Security, Product, Data Privacy, and Infrastructure.

Requirements

• Backend engineering experience: 7+ years building and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, with comfort picking up other languages.
• Solid understanding of authentication/authorization concepts including session management, tokens, MFA, and OAuth2/OIDC fundamentals.
• Solid REST API design and HTTP fundamentals, plus service-to-service communication patterns.
• Hands-on cloud experience with databases, queues, caches, and serverless compute (AWS preferred), and experience deploying/operating on Kubernetes.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Nice to have

• Experience building/operating customer identity and access management platforms at scale.
• Fine-grained authorization concepts (e.g., ReBAC, ABAC, policy-based access control).
• Infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
• Privacy-aware system design and implications of GDPR/CCPA.
• Experience with system ownership transition or platform migration.
• Background in automotive, IoT, or connected consumer product companies.
