Field Software Engineer (Autonomy)

Location: Remote within the United States; ability to travel extensively throughout the continental United States, including 50–75% travel

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 annually, plus equity and bonus opportunities

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, and operate autonomous systems during customer demonstrations, exercises, testing, and operational deployments.
• Develop and modify software in the field to resolve mission-critical problems.
• Integrate autonomy systems with customer platforms, communications systems, sensors, and partner technologies.
• Diagnose software, networking, hardware interface, and system integration issues using logs, telemetry, and performance data.
• Build deployment automation, internal tools, documentation, and operational workflows.
• Train operators, support customer acceptance and demonstrations, and translate field lessons into product improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, robotics, systems engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, robotics, DevOps, systems integration, field engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong Linux skills, including command-line, log, and telemetry troubleshooting.
• Programming experience in at least one modern language such as C++, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, APIs, containerized applications, or distributed systems, and ability to work across software, hardware, networking, and operations.
• U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, and willingness to travel 50–75% of the time are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, unmanned vehicles, maritime platforms, or operational field testing.
• Experience with ROS2, DDS, Docker, Kubernetes, PX4, or ArduPilot.
• Experience integrating communications systems, tactical networks, command and control software, or embedded hardware interfaces.
• Experience with edge computing, radios, GNSS/INS, cameras, radar, lidar, or robotic sensors.
• Experience supporting DoD, government, aerospace, maritime, or dual-use technology programs; active U.S. security clearance.
