Engineering Manager (Platform)

TL;DR

Engineering Manager (Platform): Leading the development of the developer platform and internal tooling for a global logistics network with an accent on CI/CD pipelines, developer experience, and system scalability. Focus on driving the platform roadmap, optimizing the paved path for hundreds of engineers, and building the Amsterdam engineering hub.

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands (office attendance 3 times a week)

What you will do

• Own and drive the developer platform roadmap, identifying high-leverage problems to solve over the next 12-18 months.
• Lead a team of platform engineers to evolve CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and observability systems.
• Collaborate with product engineers to dogfood the platform and ensure it meets actual developer needs.
• Engage deeply with technical designs and solve complex infrastructure challenges.
• Contribute to company-wide planning and the long-term strategy of the combined platform, security, and infrastructure organization.
• Build the Amsterdam engineering culture through hiring, onboarding, and establishing team rituals.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on developer platforms or internal tooling.
• 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager owning a technical roadmap with high autonomy.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, GraphQL, gRPC, IAM, and observability.
• Proven track record of applying product instincts to internal developer tools.
• Experience managing in a distributed, multinational engineering organization.
• Excellent communication skills for writing strategy documents and presenting to senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with DORA metrics for DevX development.
• Proficiency with AWS and Terraform.
• Prior experience managing engineers within the Netherlands or broader EU employment contexts.
