Senior Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer (Embedded Linux/C)

What you will do

• Develop embedded software and firmware for electronics subsystems using commercial processors, ASICs, SoCs, GPUs, and FPGAs.
• Bring up initial custom hardware prototypes and mature them into deployable solutions.
• Work across the full development lifecycle, from ideation through formal production acceptance testing.
• Perform embedded debugging, emulation, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and design improvement.
• Develop embedded Linux hardware drivers and integrate FPGA interfaces.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on anti-tamper and protective technology for weapons systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, plus 10+ years of direct embedded systems experience; advanced STEM degrees may substitute for experience year for year.
• Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• Experience understanding schematics, testing designs and components in the laboratory, turning up custom electronics, and troubleshooting embedded designs.
• Experience with embedded debugging and emulation, real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, and Linux hardware driver creation.
• Expert-level C programming skills and experience with FPGA interface and integration.

Nice to have

• Advanced engineering degree with 15+ years of relevant experience or an active Top Secret clearance.
• Technical leadership or architecture experience for embedded projects, including requirements derivation and architecture selection.
• Experience with microcode, Secure Boot, bare-metal development, cryptographic algorithms and primitives, secure processors, or hardware security research.
• Experience with technical documentation, software development plans, customer interactions, proposal development, or white papers.
• Willingness to mentor junior technical personnel.
