TL;DR
Sr. Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++, aerospace): Developing low-level flight software and firmware for autonomous aircraft with an accent on bare-metal systems, hardware initialization, networking, protocol drivers, and memory interfaces. Focus on implementing DO-178C-compliant software, building Python integration tests, and maintaining CI infrastructure for safety-critical aviation systems.

Location: Mountain View, California, United States. Access to U.S. export-controlled information requires documentation establishing U.S. person or eligible non-U.S. person status.

Salary: $210,000–$280,000 annual base salary, plus equity and stock options.

What you will do

  • Develop C/C++ flight software requirements, designs, code, unit tests, and requirements-based test cases.
  • Build bare-metal operating system components, hardware initialization, networking, protocol drivers, and memory interfaces.
  • Develop Python-based software integration test cases.
  • Maintain continuous integration infrastructure for automated software integration, builds, testing, and deployment.
  • Support aircraft equipment and product demonstrations, higher-level capabilities, certification, and market delivery.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional C or C++ development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience developing embedded, high-performance, or safety-critical software.
  • Thorough understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and networking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to comply with U.S. export-control requirements and provide documentation of U.S. person or eligible non-U.S. person status.

Nice to have

  • 12+ years of professional C or C++ development experience.
  • Experience working in a DO-178 software development environment.
  • Experience with fast-paced, agile or iterative development lifecycles.
