Senior Construction Consultant (Construction Risk Advisory)

Location: Remote, based in the Eastern United States near a major airport; travel to project sites throughout the United States up to 50% of the time.

Salary: $97,000–$105,000 USD per year, excluding bonuses, equity, benefits, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Provide independent construction risk advisory and pre-development due diligence for lenders and developers.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, budgets, development approvals, and project documentation.
• Lead construction loan monitoring through site inspections, draw request validation, cost-to-complete analysis, and monthly reporting.
• Assess pay applications, subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, change orders, RFI logs, contingency usage, and project controls.
• Identify project, cost, schedule, and construction risks and recommend practical mitigation actions.
• Manage relationships with lenders, developers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders across multiple projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Several years of experience overseeing, managing, consulting on, or evaluating construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction practices, project delivery, budgets, schedules, contracts, and project controls.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and multidisciplinary project documentation.
• Experience evaluating budgets, pay applications, change orders, cost-to-complete forecasts, and project risks.
• Ability to work remotely from the Eastern United States near a major airport and travel up to 50% of the time.
