TL;DR
Training Specialist (Disaster Recovery): Designing and delivering virtual and in-person training for CDBG-DR grantees and stakeholders with an accent on HUD disaster recovery programs, instructional design, and regulatory compliance. Focus on facilitating interactive learning sessions, customizing materials for different audiences, and developing accurate technical assistance products.

Location: Remote anywhere in the continental United States. Candidates in Mountain or Pacific Time Zones, or willing to work after traditional Eastern Time Zone hours, are preferred. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $74,090–$125,954 annually based on full-time employment.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and deliver virtual and in-person training for CDBG-DR grantees and stakeholders.
  • Cover housing, infrastructure, mitigation, program implementation, compliance, and federal grant requirements.
  • Facilitate interactive learning sessions using group discussions, case studies, role-playing, and other activities.
  • Deliver individual and group instructional training under project manager direction.
  • Contribute as a subject-matter expert, author, researcher, or developer on technical assistance products.
  • Customize content for audience needs and ensure materials are accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in learning and development, education, public policy, business, urban planning, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of direct experience with CDBG-DR, HUD, or other relevant affordable housing programs.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and delivering training and technical assistance using virtual and in-person training platforms.
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of housing, community and economic development, and disaster recovery programs at the state or local level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with multifamily developers, housing authorities, or affordable housing developers.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design.
