Senior Counsel - Product (SaaS)

TL;DR

Senior Counsel - Product (SaaS): Providing legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle for a global CX platform with an accent on privacy, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Focus on embedding within engineering teams to ensure compliant product launches and automating routine legal analysis using AI tools.

Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the London (Aldgate) office

What you will do

• Embed within product and engineering teams across the full lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration.
• Serve as the single point of legal contact for product teams, coordinating privacy, IP, and regulatory specialist input.
• Advise on privacy, data flows, consent mechanisms, and international data transfers in product features.
• Partner with IP and commercial counsel on patent protection, trademarks, open-source licensing, and SLAs.
• Review product marketing claims, disclosures, and launch materials for compliance and risk.
• Build legal playbooks and use AI tools to automate routine legal analysis and accelerate reviews.

Requirements

• Law degree from a nationally-recognised law school and current practising certificate.
• Minimum of 5 years PQE.
• Minimum of 3 years in-house as product counsel at a SaaS, cloud, or technology company.
• Demonstrated experience embedding within product/engineering teams to enable compliant launches.
• Excellent communication skills with a commercial and pragmatic approach.
• Must be based in or able to work from the London office on a hybrid basis.

Nice to have

• Experience advising on AI/ML products, including generative AI.
• Experience using AI tools to augment legal workflows and automate analysis.
• Experience in the technology or cloud communications industry.
• Familiarity with US Revenue Recognition principles.
• Experience working for a US-based multinational company with a strong UK presence.
