Group Leader - Land Surveying

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, supporting surveying projects across Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.

Salary: $135,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead survey crew chiefs, technicians, and support staff across multiple offices and project sites.
• Mentor team members and support hiring, onboarding, workload planning, and succession planning.
• Manage client relationships and contribute to scoping, pricing, proposals, interviews, and business development.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction layout, and utility surveys.
• Integrate reality capture services including terrestrial scanning, mobile mapping, UAV/LiDAR, and photogrammetry.
• Manage financial performance, utilization, backlog, staffing forecasts, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• Professional Land Surveyor license in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or Maryland, or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
• 10+ years of progressive land surveying experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience managing survey teams, complex surveying projects, client relationships, and business development.
• Strong understanding of field operations, CAD/GIS workflows, survey data management, plan preparation, survey law, cost estimating, research, and scheduling.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 or newer, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, robotic total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
• Knowledge of leveling, traversing, metes and bounds surveys, bathymetric surveys, and related surveying principles.

• Multi-state licensure or experience across the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Experience with reality capture and advanced geospatial services.
• Experience integrating survey data into engineering and design workflows.
• Experience in a consulting engineering or multidisciplinary firm.
