TL;DR

Lead Supplier Development Engineer (Aerospace): Defining and implementing supplier development strategies to ensure quality standards and high-rate production for large-scale satellite platforms with an accent on supplier capability assessment and process maturity. Focus on building the development engineering team, managing PPAP, and driving supplier corrective actions to support critical space missions.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual).

Salary: $130,000 - $175,000 + equity

What you will do

  • Build and lead the supplier development engineering team and define processes for high-rate production.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and technologies to ensure they meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), rate, and reliability campaigns.
  • Lead containment, issue resolution, and supplier corrective action efforts.
  • Evaluate supplier quality performance using scorecards and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Define and oversee a standardized qualification process for suppliers from development to flight tier.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality, reliability, supply chain, or engineering roles.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and tools: ISO 9001, AS9100, and PPAP.
  • Experience managing vendors, suppliers, and strategic technical partners.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time.
  • Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • 1+ years in a management role.
  • Expert knowledge in mechanical (machined parts, composites) or avionics (PCBs/PCBAs) commodities.
  • Knowledge of Lean concepts and experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) environments.
  • Experience with root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Proficiency with data analytics and SQL.
