Senior Spacecraft Build Reliability Engineer, FMEA (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $140,000–$179,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Partner with design and manufacturing teams to create test, manufacturability, inspection, and process-control plans for spacecraft hardware.
• Contain non-conforming products and provide guidance to quality inspectors, technicians, supervisors, and engineers.
• Lead failure investigations across production, testing, and operations, identifying root causes and implementing mitigations.
• Review hardware during design reviews and acceptance and qualification test campaigns.
• Perform FMEA, develop requirements compliance matrices, and ensure test coverage, change management, and manufacturability of flight hardware.
• Own vehicle-level compliance, hazard analysis, verification evidence, and risk-mitigation deliverables for regulatory bodies and Mission Assurance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace, design, quality, or related engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, or materials engineering.
• Hands-on experience with hardware testing, qualification, troubleshooting, or failure analysis.
• Experience applying process controls in high-volume manufacturing, testing, and quality environments.
• Experience generating, processing, or analyzing production data.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Full project lifecycle ownership experience.
• Experience with MSA, DOE, SPC, RCA/CAPA, APQP, metrology, PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving.
• Hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, additive manufacturing, casting, welding, fastening, or other special manufacturing processes.
