Principal Solutions Architect (AI)

Location: United States; remote. Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain a successful Federal Background Investigation.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own reference architectures, integration patterns, platform decisions, and modernization roadmaps for VA IT programs.
• Build proof-of-concept code and hands-on prototypes to validate and de-risk architectural decisions.
• Represent hirify.global in VA stakeholder meetings, RFI responses, oral presentations, customer discovery, and relationship-building activities.
• Contribute to capture strategy, technical volumes, win themes, technical Q&A, and pre-award activities.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams while reviewing solution designs against architectural standards and VA compliance requirements.
• Document architectural decisions, integration contracts, and technical standards for delivery teams.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a successful Federal Background Investigation.
• At least 10 years of hands-on technical experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; a master's degree is preferred.
• Recent, hands-on AI/ML implementation experience in production systems, such as LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, MLOps infrastructure, model training or fine-tuning, or agentic AI systems.
• Prior experience working at the Department of Veterans Affairs as an employee or contractor. General federal or DoD experience does not substitute.
• Enterprise-scale architecture experience involving $100M+ programs or equivalent complexity, plus AWS and/or Azure cloud architecture, networking, identity, FedRAMP, and NIST controls.
• Deep DevSecOps experience with CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, shift-left security, API design, microservices, containers, application development, and Agile/SDLC practices.

Nice to have

• Healthcare informatics experience with VA, VHA, or DoD healthcare.
• DoD delivery or capture experience.
• Experience with application portfolio inventories, interdependency mapping, modernization assessments, data analytics, SaaS, low/no-code platforms, RPA, or network engineering.
• AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar technical certification.
