Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Optics and Systems)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; regular onsite presence required in manufacturing and cleanroom environments.

Salary: $102,375–$153,563 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Own and sustain manufacturing processes to improve quality, yield, throughput, cost, and process stability.
• Lead NPI activities, pilot builds, manufacturing readiness, product launches, and transitions to volume production.
• Develop manufacturing flows, work instructions, standard work, PFMEA, control plans, BOMs, and change-control documentation.
• Apply SPC, DOE, FMEA, root-cause analysis, Cpk, GR&R, and MSA to reduce variation and improve process capability.
• Troubleshoot complex optical, electro-mechanical, system-level, and test issues while partnering with Design, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain.
• Support equipment qualification, tooling improvements, production ramp, technician training, and hands-on production-floor and cleanroom activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, Industrial, Optical, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, NPI, process development, product transfer, system integration, optics, or precision assemblies.
• Experience with SPC, DOE, FMEA, process validation, data analysis, automated test systems, or metrology equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot multidisciplinary systems involving mechanical, electrical, optical, software, and system-level components.
• Must be legally authorized to access United States-controlled technology before beginning work.
• Regular onsite work in San Diego and hands-on support in manufacturing and cleanroom environments are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with optics, laser systems, lithography, high-voltage power systems, or precision electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous-improvement training.
• Experience with optical alignment, cleanroom manufacturing, product transfers, or semiconductor manufacturing.
