Sr. Metrology Equipment Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States, at the Fab 9 cleanroom. The role follows a 5/2 schedule with occasional night and weekend support.

Expected salary: $69,000–$120,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Own and maintain CFM and metrology equipment in a 200mm semiconductor fabrication environment.
• Drive equipment availability, maintenance improvements, structured root-cause analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Support tool installations, relocations, sourcing, fleet upgrades, and planned maintenance coordination.
• Provide second-level equipment support and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.
• Maintain vendor agreements, spare-parts inventories, repair paths, requisitions, and critical-part availability.
• Expand maintenance-team capabilities and document equipment procedures while supporting safety and environmental programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or closely related engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of engineering or equipment-maintenance experience with 200mm equipment in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Fluent English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to work on-site in a cleanroom, wear required protective equipment, and lift at least 30 pounds.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of metrology-specific engineering experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Knowledge of semiconductor processing, SPC, DOE, 5S, 8D, and FMEA.
• Coding experience in VBA, Python, C++, MATLAB, SQL, or another language applicable to task automation.
• Experience with trace-data analysis using FDC and OEM applications.
