Director - Environmental Health & Safety (Industrial Hygiene)

Location: Richmond, Virginia 23234; onsite at an industrial manufacturing facility. The role typically requires 8–16 hours per week, with occasional periods of increased demand.

What you will do

• Provide Certified Industrial Hygienist expertise to support the Occupational Health program and regulatory compliance.
• Review and approve industrial hygiene monitoring plans, oversee sampling, and analyze monitoring results.
• Review chemical requests and ensure compliance with the site’s chemical approval procedures.
• Conduct and document qualitative and quantitative assessments of chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
• Guide medical surveillance activities and technical work performed by the Health Services and Occupational Health teams.
• Review PPE requests and breathing-air testing results, maintain data in Cority, and support asbestos, lead, laser, and equipment safety activities.

Requirements

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) qualification.
• Experience supporting occupational health and industrial hygiene programs in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene best practices, regulatory requirements, hazard assessments, and exposure monitoring.
• Ability to evaluate chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards and provide technical guidance.
• Ability to work onsite in Richmond, Virginia, for 8–16 hours per week, with occasional increased demand.
