Site Safety & Health Officer

Location: Remote within the United States, based in the Upper Midwest

Salary: $92,000–$134,000 base annually, plus benefits and potential incentives.

What you will do

• Conduct inspections of personnel, equipment, tools, work areas, and construction activities.
• Lead worker safety orientations, ongoing safety meetings, incident investigations, and near-miss reviews.
• Implement, monitor, and enforce Accident Prevention Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and other applicable safety regulations.
• Maintain daily safety records, inspection reports, regulatory documentation, and onsite reference materials.
• Coordinate safety matters with project management, quality control, subcontractors, and government representatives.
• Stop unsafe work, initiate corrective actions, verify PPE use, and promote a proactive safety culture.

Requirements

• At least five years of documented construction safety experience on commercial, industrial, or heavy construction projects, or at least three years as a dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer on USACE or other federal construction projects.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course plus 40 additional documented hours of construction safety training.
• Eight hours of formal safety-related continuing education annually for the previous five years.
• Experience with Accident Prevention Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses, construction safety regulations, and electronic safety management systems.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification and a current CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent professional safety certification.
• Ability to review confidential US security information and a valid driver's license in good standing are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other Department of Defense construction contracts.
• Experience with digital reporting platforms.
